Match funding

LEADER funding is for projects that would not be able to proceed without this local development funding.  If other sources of funding are available through the public or private sector, then those funds should be the first choice for applicants.   Potential applicants should discuss other funding sources with the LEADER Coordinator.

All applicants will be required to find an appropriate source and level of match funding, and this may include charitable funds, other (non-EU) grant funds, retained profits, financial reserves or bank or other commercial funding.

Community groups and businesses must be able to demonstrate to the Local Action Group that they have adequate resources in place to deliver their proposed projects.     The LEADER team can advise on potential funding sources, and on the timing of project expenditure and claims.

In all cases the applicant is required to demonstrate that no additional project funding is available, and that the project could not proceed without LEADER funding support.

LEADER funding is paid retrospectively, once project expenditure has been incurred and evidence of expenditure is provided via claims.  Cash flow implications of delivering such a project should be considered to ensure there is no shortfall.
