Fisheries Development Themes

European Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF) local development funding is delivered by a Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG).  The LEADER LAG and EMFF FLAG are separate bodies delivering separate programmes, but governed by a single Local Development Strategy.

Following advice from the Scottish Government the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and Fife FLAGs have agreed to merge their activities and form one FLAG for the Borders and Forth for the new programme. The new Forth FLAG has a funding allocation of £1.05m and FLAG funding opportunities in the coastal area are now available.

The Programme is managed from the FLAG office at Eyemouth Harbour.  Contact Rosalind McArthur, Tel: 01835 825117, Email: rosalind.mcarthur@scotborders.gov.uk

FLAG Projects will support the creation of a Progressive Coastal Economy and three sub-themes:

  • The development and diversification of the catching and processing industry;

  • The development of tourism, including the food and drink sectors; and

  • The development of the renewables sector, in particular the opportunities presented by the offshore wind sector.

Target beneficiaries will be medium, small and micro-businesses, business groups, community groups and the Harbour Trusts.

Further information on EMFF funding can be found on the Scottish Government website.
